That is a fairly normal Queens Sunday for us. The old buildings shed plaster dust that lands on picture frames and sill tops, and the radiators bake a scorched dust smell into the room every October. The new ones have sealed windows, HVAC vents that trap fine grit, and floor-to-ceiling glass that shows every fingerprint. We treat them differently, on purpose.

Local knowledge
The first cold week, steam heat kicks on across the borough and every radiator in every pre-war building bakes the dust that settled on it all summer. That is the burnt-toast smell in your hallway in mid-October. If you clean the fins and the wall behind the radiator in late September, that smell mostly does not happen, and the dust load in the room drops for the whole winter. Our cleaners in Astoria and Sunnyside know to check for it without being asked.
If your windows face Roosevelt Avenue, Queens Boulevard, Northern, or anywhere near the Grand Central, what lands on your sills is heavier and greasier than normal dust. It smears rather than lifts. It needs a wet wipe, then a dry one, and the sill tracks need doing separately. A dry cloth just pushes it around and makes the glass look worse. Those homes usually want a deep clean every four months instead of six.
A huge share of Queens bathrooms have no window at all. Warm, damp, no airflow. Grout goes gray, then it goes dark, and by the time you notice it, scrubbing alone will not fully bring it back. Run the fan for fifteen minutes after showering, and leave the door open. If it's already dark, our tile and grout cleaning hits it with a brush and time rather than a stronger chemical.
This one matters. Combining bleach with ammonia, or with an acidic cleaner like a lime remover, produces gas that can put you in the ER. In a windowless Queens bathroom of about forty square feet, that happens fast. The CDC's cleaning guidance covers safe practice in plain language, and the EPA's Safer Choice list is where we check a product before it goes into our kit. We also keep a fragrance-free set on the van for anyone who asks.
After a kitchen or bath renovation, the dust is finer, stays in the air for days, and lands again after you have already wiped. You cannot beat it with one pass and a spray bottle. It takes a HEPA vacuum, a top-down order, and wiping the same surface twice hours apart. If your building went up before 1978, which describes most of Elmhurst, Corona, Woodside and Ridgewood, read the EPA's lead-safe guidance before anyone starts wiping. We plan for it. Alternate side rules, no loading zone in half of Jackson Heights, elevators in LIC towers that need booking for a service window, walk-ups in Astoria where the buzzer has been broken since 2019. Q Do I need to be home during the clean?
No. Most Queens clients leave entry instructions, a key with the super, or a lockbox code, and go about their day. Tell us how you'd like us to get in when you book and it goes into the notes on your home so nobody has to ask twice.
Q Do you bring your own supplies?
Yes, everything essential comes with us: sprays, solutions, paper towels and sponges. For hygiene we do not carry vacuums and mops between homes, because that is how bacteria and, occasionally, bedbugs travel between apartments in the same building. We ask that you have your own vacuum, mop and toilet brush available. If you don't, tell us and we'll bring a Swiffer mop with disposable wet pads instead.

Usually, if you call before about 11am. Our same day cleaning service fills fastest in Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside and Woodside because our crews start close by. Q How often should a Queens apartment be deep cleaned?
Every six months for most homes. Every four if you cook every night, have a radiator under a window, keep pets, or live on a ground floor facing a busy road. Between deep cleans, a bi-weekly standard visit keeps things from ever getting back to that point.
Q What if something gets missed?

Q Will I get the same cleaner every time?

Q Will a move-out clean get my security deposit back?
It removes the cleaning argument, which is the one landlords use most often. We do inside cabinets and closets, inside the oven and fridge, window tracks, baseboards and door frames, and we send you a dated photo set when we finish. That photo set is what you show if there's a dispute later. Ordinary wear and tear is not deductible under New York law.
Q How do I pay, and can I cancel?
